UConn student team Tony Patelunas, Josh Schreier, Shankar Kumar, and Sneha Jayaraj, participated in New York University’s Policy Case Competition (NYUPCC).
The team beat out a field of over 500 students comprising 139 teams from 67 institutions and 6 countries. From 139 teams, 20 advanced to the second round on Saturday in New York, and 5 advanced to a final round on Sunday. The UConn team’s goal was to craft the most innovative and effective policies to address problems with agricultural subsidies in the United States. Their ultimate policy proposals were to reduce federal subsidies for crop insurance and create a targeted tax credit for small farmers. Congratulations to all in their achievement of becoming the 2019 NYUPCC champions!
