URAP is a unique program that provides students an opportunity to learn about and gain experience in clinical research. Students meet weekly on Friday afternoons at UCONN Storrs to learn about clinical research design, participate in journal club, and are introduced to current studies running at Connecticut Children’s. Learning opportunities extend beyond the classroom in weekly practicum time at Connecticut Children’s where students will be enrolling children and their families in studies in the Emergency Department. Please review the following information which further outlines the expectations for this course. Practicum Hours: URAP students will be required to be onsite at 282 Washington, Hartford CT for 4 hours each week over the course of the semester to receive lab credit. Weeks exempt from this requirement include: UCONN Recesses (Thanksgiving Recess, Spring Recess) Finals week Please consider the weekly time and travel commitment before enrolling in this course. Transportation: Students will need their own reliable form of transportation to get to and from Connecticut Children’s. Regular carpooling with fellow students without your own mode of transportation is not recommended due to potential scheduling conflicts or last minute unavailability. Please consider your transportation options before enrolling in this course. Parking: Please note that onsite parking is not included within this experience and students are responsible for parking costs. There are several parking options close to the hospital.
