Workshop is open to all UConn STEM teaching and mentoring community including graduate students, please use the red button at the top right of the page to register.
Dr. Starks will introduce the "Be The Messenger" theoretical framework which examines four major constructs - Identity, Culture, Diversity, and Respect - essential to self-development, understanding bias, implicit bias, and privilege, and cultivating a deep appreciation of diversity and inclusion.
SESSION OBJECTIVES:
#1 Know how to unpack your personal and group identity and environments that you are a part of.
#2 Understand the four major constructs fundamental to self-development, understanding bias, implicit bias, and privilege, and cultivating a deep appreciation of diversity, equity and inclusion.
#3 Practice self-reflection and self-awareness and become Messengers.
